Planning Your Next Step

Find Your Spot - A popular website that answers "Where should I live?" You take a quiz and instantly get a tailored list of the best cities and small towns that match what you want!

Shaw Guides - A website I have turned to over the years with "More Than 5,800 Sponsors of Learning Vacation & Creative Career Programs Worldwide." It has a great cooking school directory.

Vocation Vacations lets you "test drive" your next career during your vacation time.

Take the FREE MAPP Assessment - a personal assessment that takes 15 minutes and identifies your true motivations toward work. It allows you to match yourself to job categories to see where you best fit.

CultureMatch career assessment test from CareerLeader.com.

Write a pitch at 15secondpitch.com whether for your business or yourself.

Classes

MIT Open Courseware - Get an MIT education for free! Available courses for download range from business to science and humanities.

Personal Growth Communities and Resources

Toastmasters public speaking - Learn to speak on your feet and deliver compelling speeches in a variety of situations, as well as make new friends and business partners, by joining a Toastmasters chapter near you. They welcome guests, so visit and see what you think!

Womens Wall Street - Empowering women financially one at a time. Who doesn't need that? Great articles and a daily newsletter. Yes it's good for men too!

Greater Good Magazine has excellent thought-provoking articles about goodness and humanity.

Martha Beck - Extremely helpful advice in these witty, wise articles featured on O Magazine.

Barbara Sher Discussions - An active community on Barbara Sher's website helps each other overcome obstacles to goals and share success stories.

Planet Sark - The place to kick off a juicy, luscious, ecstatic life and join in conversation with others who have the Sark religion.

Cheryl Richardson has active discussion forums. You can subscribe to the free weekly Life Makeover newsletter.

Dr. Phil's Life Strategies articles online have much of what's covered in his books such as Ten Life Laws and Seven Steps to Acquiring Your Goals.

Daily Strength Health Communities - The name says it all. A place to connect with people who share similar health conditions. Set goals to overcome health issues.

Additional lists of links from Author / Coaches:

Jennifer Louden, who produces the helpful Inner Organizer

Authentic Happiness has articles and quizzes from the University of Pennsylvania's Positive Psychology Center. You'll also find studies you can participate in, in the pursuit of happiness research!

Creative Funding / Promote Your Local Business

Kickstarter and Indiegogo let you raise money for projects and entrepreneurial endeavors — often much more than you plann to. Both sites are a great way to build community and make your dreams happen.

Pledgie.org lets you raise money for any cause by running a campaign, linked to PayPal to accept donations.

Prosper.com enables peer-to-peer lending, which means you can get loans directly from people or groups of people.

Check Unclaimed.org to find your state's Unclaimed Property database. You or your relatives might be owed money that was turned over to the state government, if somehow the organization owing money couldn't find you!

Unusual Scholarships for College Kids including a scholarship you can win by making a YouTube video about why real Christmas trees are better than fake ones.

Other Idea Websites

Global Ideas Bank - Submit ideas to the UK-based Global Ideas Bank for how to change the world for the better. It doesn't matter how and who the ideas would happen, but it's a place to put them out there.

Idea Champions - Articles and tools to promote innovation and creativity in the workplace.

Fun and Games

Custom Motivational Posters - Mock, motivate, or have fun by making your own motivational poster with a photo you choose and caption you write. What a great gift!

Instructables Step-by-Step Collaboration - Do it yourself projects you document with text and photos, and trade ideas with others. It's the "project" site for Make Magazine, which I describe as popular mechanics for the modern age. It's geeky gadgetry combined with inventive madness. I love them both.

SustainLane helps you find natural products and sustainable, socially good services. Write reviews of your favorite products as well to help other people find the best of eco products!

"National Months" List may give you ideas of goals related to things like National Billiard Awareness Month.

Self-Publish with Blurb or Lulu - They makes it easy and affordable, if you have a coffee-table or children's book in mind. (I have no relationship with them. Just wanted to share my discovery with all who want to get published!)

Post Secret - Post Secret blends postcards sent in by anonymous people, each with a secret, which are then presented in a blog. An irresitably voyeuristic experience.

Justcurio.us - (May be offensive to some) An odd, anonymous Q & A system. Since it's anonymous, anything goes.

World Book Encyclopedia Trivia Quizzes - It's a quick way to give yourself elementary and high school lessons all over again (and show how much we forget)!

Cool Tools

Future Me lets you write an email to yourself, that gets sent to yourself at a future date you choose up to 30 years from now. It's free and you don't have to register to send it. (Who knows if they will be around then!)
