1) Yahara Bay Distillery
http://www.yaharabay.com
A micro distiller that uses local ingredients (the midwest answer to St George Spirits and others on the West Coast) Can't wait!
2) Also Saveur has Sweetwater Donuts on its Saveur 100 for 2010. Must go!

1) Ate at The Old Fashioned, which has lots of great locally brewed beers, amazing sounding beer cheese soup, many decadent salads using Wisconsin cheese and other interesting ingredients. Lots of mac and cheese and other to-die-for (literally?) food.
Down the street is L'Etoile where I didn't eat but is supposed to be amazing.
2) The Great Dane is a nice micro brewery with good food, perfect for families.
3) Lao Laan Xang is a fabulous Laotian restaurant (you might not think of eating that in Wisconsin) but the food was amazing...spoken by someone who went to Laos and lives on that sort of food at home. And to have a meal that didn't include cheese was a kind of welcome change :)
4) The Dane County Farmer's Market covers all 4 sides of the large block on which the state capitol stands. It's a great setting, on Saturdays. The very old and well preserved capitol itself is fabulous and you can walk through.
