The two airports in Chicago are Midway and O'Hare. You can get into the city from each by subway train for very little money. Taxi service is plentiful downtown and walking is a major way of getting around.
In winter there is ice skating at Millenium Park as well as fireworks on Saturday nights at the bridge to the Magnificent Mile.
The Chicago Art Museum has many great pieces of art including American Gothic.

If you're planning to go to Chicago, especially for a short visit, keep in mind the season. Chicago has great activities all year round, but winter gets very cold. The wind in Chicago is very strong and in winter it can really affect you.
If you go in July go to the Taste of Chicago. While there, have a Chicago Style hot dog and a deep dish pizza.
