I began blogging my book, which motivates me to write even more! I have found it useful because the bigger the audience gets, the more demand for my writing. Check me out at incredibleleader.blogspot.com

A great way to get your book out there if you are having a problem finding an agent is to self publish on www.createspace.com. It allows you to publish on demand without putting major money out first.
I have recently published my debut novel through them and it is called A Bravo Affair. It will be on amazon by June 1, 2009. Please order your copy right away.

Barnes & Noble has an interesting program where they have popular authors join an online discussion where you can ask them about their writing:

I'm a big Kellerman fan which is why this is so intriguing to me!

Things I've done to get started: Brain splurge for ideas on what books I wanted to write, wrote them down and created titles and short synopsis. On several I just began writing, on others I have done character analysis, and on others I worked out the plot, character and setting and began writing. Everytime I write, I go back and edit. I got myself a good thesaurus for the computer and set aside those authors and book I most admire for their writing skills. I never give up, and every idea is a good idea but for specific targets, not all ideas are good for one specific target. Take criticizm and use it, use the college for editing tools. Department of English to be precise, they always have students willing to edit.

As somebody who has been toying with the idea of writing a book for what seems like forever, and who's written the first 25 pages of a book about a gazillion times, nanowrimo.org is a great site. It's a challenge to complete an entire novel in the month of Novembor. It's a good place to start once you have an idea, and it's also nice just to prove to yourself that you can complete something, even if doesn't become a bestseller.

Just saw this cool site - How to write a novel in 100 days or less:

The BBC also has good tips: http://tinyurl.com/jpbsk

I haven't tried it but it seems like it could be a useful nudge!
