i am 33 and my 2 year old niece is learning to swim before me! so i just signed up with the YMCA and I am starting this weekend! Must be done by March!

I took my first YMCA swim class the other day. It was great! The instructor was very nice and patient. There were three adults (including myself) in the class making me feel more at ease with the fact I don't know how to swim. The instructor make sure we all knew how to kick and were comfortable with getting our heads under water. Then she showed us the Freestyle (aka Front), Back and Breast strokes. She also showed us how to tread water. It's not as hard as I thought it would be. Next week we'll learn the Side stroke and she'll teach us how to time our breathing.
