Virgin America has $449 first class one way coast to coast in the US now. I think this may be the time to try flying first class! I may just go for it. (Although soon they'll have internet access. That will be really sweet too!)

I did this, but not intentionally : ). When my flight from Denver to Seattle was cancelled, I was bumped to first class on another flight. I was 16, flying alone AND flying for the first time. I just thought it was awesome that the airline gave me a voucher for free food at the airport when I had to wait a few hours... then they put me on first class, which was great, though I had NO idea what to do when the flight attendant asked me if I wanted a hot towel, lol.
