I only just heard about dorodango, the Japanese art of making spheres out of common mud which, when you follow the instructions, become firm shiny balls. The process is very relaxing and as you can read has become very popular among children. The side effects are documented on this Japanese site. "Once Kayo teaches children how to make these mud balls, they become absorbed in forming a sphere, and they put all their energy into polishing the ball until it sparkles. The dorodango soon becomes the child's greatest treasure. "
