A wonderful resource for calligraphy, including an EXCELLENT set of ductuses (ducti? Whatever the plural of ductus is!) is David Harris' book "The Art of Calligraphy." It includes the clearest, most concise set of directions for learning historical calligraphic hands I've ever seen, plus it's got wonderful color pictures that serve as historical examples of each hand (including lovely pictures of the Lindsfairne bible, Book of Kells, and other famous illuminated works).
