I just found out that in 2008 the epic Mavericks Surf Contest on January 12 will be broadcast live on the web.

Took place on February 8 in 2006. Gotta make sure I don't miss the surf contest next year although I hear the swells are swellin still.

Oops! I learned it was north and forgot to change this. My fave beach in the world is in Half Moon Bay but I won't say here which one it is ;) It doesn't get a lot of people so you can probably guess which one it is.

Mavericks is not in Santa Cruz, its about an hour north in a little area called Half Moon Bay (my hometown).
Pretty awesome if you go though, get there early, theres not much parking.
