Enjoying the Holiday Parties: Focus on Life, Not Food

December 14th, 2007 by Susie

1. Fill Your Mouth With Words Not Food

Cheryl Richardson advises “When attending social gatherings, spend more time using your mouth for meaningful discussions than unconscious eating — something we tend to do when we feel bored, empty, or frustrated. For example, rather than stand around the food table munching like crazy as you listen to a co-worker talk about her latest crisis, find one person you really like, sit down and have a heartfelt conversation.”

2. Ask Not What DO You Do - But What DID and What Do You WANT To Do

Think about all the interesting things on your life list and what’s up for 2008.

Spice up your holiday conversations with topics like:

  • What’s the most interesting thing you did this year?
  • What was the highlight of your year?
  • What are the top 3 things you want to do next year?
  • I’m planning to _____. Do you know anyone who’s done that?

3. Center Around an Activity Like a Life Collage Party

life collage partyPull out the Elmers glue, your magazines from the recycle pile, and the scissors and act like juveniles as you envision a perfect 2008 at your life collage (vision board) party. Here’s how easy it is to organize a life vision board party.

True confessions: I look at my collage more than my life list!

Sasha from the To Do List blog has some more great ideas about turning your parties into life list making events.
