Learn About SARK’s Journey to Her Work & Join a Writing Workshop

SARK book

If you don’t know SARK, check out Planet SARK - a community of people who want to live juicy lives and find her work (on Amazon).

And if you’re wondering about your work / career, read this San Francisco Chronicle article about a woman who is “a survivor of incest, and has struggled with eating issues, and with obsessive perfectionism. On top of this, of course, are the years before people lined up to buy her books. It was not always clear her succulent wild woman would “live juicy,” as she now helps others to do.”

If you have a goal to write stories, seriously consider the Juicy Pens, Thirsty Paper workshop with SARK herself in Sonoma, California - on Saturday, September 29 and Sunday, September 30. (Find events in other locations too.)

Live a succulent juicy super viva!

Discovering the Secret of 1937 - Think and Grow Rich

For years and years I’d heard of the book Think and Grow Rich! by Napolean Hill, written in 1937. Yet for some reason I read it only this past week.

What it contained, and the fact that it’s sold 15 30 million copies, boggled my mind. Am I the last person to discover the secrets unraveled through studies of thousands of people? And the fact that Think and Grow Rich clearly influenced perhaps every self-help book written since then?

If you haven’t yet read this book and you feel there’s room for improvement in your life (boy what a loaded statement!) then check it out immediately. You will find such gems as:

Why people seldom succeed before 40 (concluded after an analysis of 25,000 people). Hint: It’s the sex.

How to protect yourself against negative influences (such as your own thinking)

The 30 major causes of failure - 98% of people he analyzed had no central purpose or definite goal. Phew you can cross that off if you’ve made a SuperViva life list :)

And statements such as blending faith, love and sex — the most powerful of the major positive emotions—has the effect of opening a direct line of communication between the finite, thinking mind and Infinite Intelligence.

I love that this book was based on Napolean Hill’s analyzing more than five hundred exceedingly wealthy people and how they reached that point. Needless to say, many did not start out as being advantaged but “thought and grew rich.”

This is a “secret” I am so glad to have been told—as are the 86 people who reviewed this book on Amazon with a 5 star rating. How often does that happen?

An Ode to Multitasking: Time Management of the Little Things

This morning as I got out of bed, I thought about everything I needed to do before going to the gym and how to most efficiently accomplish those things.

  • Make coffee
  • Have cereal
  • Check my email
  • Get dressed
  • Plan my gym bag

My computer takes forever to turn on, so first thing was to hit the on button.

Then go to the kitchen, grind the coffee, and get it brewing. Coffee drinkers know that waiting for coffee to brew is even more painful than watching a teapot boil.

So next I got dressed and organized with whatever I was bringing to the gym.

Ran back to sign into my computer (a second step that takes a few minutes; yes I need to fix my computer).

By then I was dressed, the coffee made, so it was time to pour the cereal.

Now I could eat and drink in front of the computer while checking emails and reading the news. I was able to do all this pleasantly and in a minimum of time.

Instead of driving to the gym, which is less than a mile away, I walk or run especially in summer. This saves me from the indoor treadmill and saves gas and the hassle of parking.

I’m happy to see that Steve Pavlina, known for his great personal development articles, endorses efficient multitasking. If you tend to do things in a linear way, try planning out and hopping back and forth. 5 minutes gained is 25 minutes in a week!

Got tips?
